Two days of discussion among project partners and field visits to the forest intervention areas of Riva di San Biagio
Two days (10–11 March) of discussion, project updates and field visits for the LIFE4OakForests project took place at the Ca’ Carnè Visitor Centre in the Vena del Gesso Romagnola Regional Park.
The meeting was attended by the coordinating beneficiary MAR (the LIFE4OakForests project technical coordinator of Italy Serna Petroncini and the naturalist Matteo Ruocco from Ente Parchi Romagna), together with the project partners BNPD, DINPD, BfNPD, ETTE, HUN-REN-CER, WWF Hungary, and the project management company FENCON. Participants gathered to review the progress of the project activities and the results achieved so far, in preparation for the final year of implementation.
The first day was entirely dedicated to the Steering Committee and Evaluation Meeting, including partner presentations and discussions on the progress of the different project actions.
During the meeting, the results achieved so far, the ongoing activities and those planned for the coming months were presented. The meeting represented an important opportunity for partners to exchange experiences, discuss challenges and share best practices, strengthening coordination among the different organisations involved in the project.
The second day was devoted to a field visit to the LIFE4OakForests intervention areas in Riva di San Biagio, a privately owned site where forest conservation actions are being implemented within the project.
The excursion allowed participants to directly observe the outcomes of the activities carried out and to discuss with Hungarian colleagues the results achieved and the methodologies adopted in forest management.
The itinerary also included a visit to the Le Banzole area, where important large specimens of downy oak (Quercus pubescens) can be found, representing elements of high ecological and landscape value. From there, the group continued towards Passo della Prè, crossing areas of particular naturalistic interest.
The day concluded at the Ca’ Budrio Speleological Refuge, providing a final informal moment of discussion among the partners after visiting the intervention sites.
The two days represented an important milestone for monitoring the activities of the LIFE4OakForests project and for strengthening collaboration among the partners involved, fostering the exchange of experiences and the on-site verification of the results achieved.
